Modern scientists have come a
long way in understanding the world around us since Ancient Egyptian times.
Ancient Egyptians used to believe that the earth was a flat lump of clay
floating on the Nile, which they thought was not just a river, but really
a huge ocean. Ancient Egyptians believed that each of the forces of nature
were really individual gods. Although different versions exist, here
is the most popular Ancient Egyptian myth about how the world was formed
by these gods.
All of the Egyptian theories
of creation were recorded on a slab of rock, which is today kept in the
Egyptian Sculpture Gallery. This record was made a very long time ago and,
unfortunately, was once used as a grinding stone. Therefore, much of the
text has been worn away forever.
The Ancient Egyptian priests
were also a very important and unique part of their religion, very different
from the priests of the 20th century. Click here
