To Friends

 I hearken to thee, my friends,
Should strife enter my heart,
Wear me thin, threatened by cold,
Unfeeling world of which I want no part.
And I shall never seek,
More than ye are willing to give,
Even be it no more than a smile,
Will I be filled to full inside
Of strength and calmer mind.
And should ye need of me,
Will I give unto you,
Ask nothing in return,
For I hold friendship true;
The best of all pleasures
Is in your company spent.
I love thee all, my friends.
